Amber fort, Jaipur is situated approximately 11 km from the city of Jaipur. It was the citadel of the Kachhawa rulers of Amber, before the capital was shifted to present day Jaipur. A blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture, Amer fort offers a visual treat to the eyes. Raja Man Singh I got the fort constructed in 1592. However, Sawai Jai Singh did the completion work for the fort. The fort contained all the necessities and luxuries required by the royalty as well as the other people living inside.
 
 
  Chittorgarh Fort  
 
The legend has it that Bhim, a Pandava, stared the construction of the Chittorgarh fort, Udaipur. The fort has a number of magnificent structures within itself. A one km zig-zag accent leads to the Chittorgarh fort of Udaipur, Rajasthan. There are seven gates in the fort. The main gate you come across while walking up to the fort is Rampol, the gate of Lord Rama. A climb on the way between the second and third gate, takes to the two Chattris cenotaphs built to honour Jaimull and Kulla (heroes of 1568 siege by Mughal emperor Akbar). The main gate of the fort itself is Surajpol, the Sun Gate.
 
     
  Golden Fort, Jaisalmer  
 
Standing almost 30 m above the city of Jaisalmer is the Jaisalmer fort. The fort is also known as the Sonar Quila. This is because standing against the backdrop of the desert with its golden sand, the fort looks straight out of a fairy tale. Sonar Quila of Jaisalmer is a massive complex comprising of a palace, various security sources, the havelis of rich merchants, several temples and the residential complexes of the armies and traders.
 
     
  Jaigarh Fort, Jaipur  
 
Situated atop a hill, the Jaigarh fort in Jaipur presents one of the most magnificent sights. It is also known as the Fort of Victory. Jaigarh fort was constructed between 15th and 18th Century. It is situated approximately 15 km from the city of Jaipur. The stone ramparts of the fort are visible from the city of Jaipur itself. Leading up to the main gate of the fort, Dungar Darwaza is a steep road, offering a fascinating view.
 
     
  Junagarh Fort, Bikaner    
 
Encircled by a high wall and a moat, the Junagarh fort of Bikaner is an unassailable fortress. Till date, the fort has never been conquered. Raja Rai Singh, a general of the Mughal emperor Akbar, got the Junagarh fort constructed. The fort has only two gates. The main gate of the fort is east facing Karan Pol (gate). Next to it is the Suraj Pol (sun gate). The Junagarh fort is a huge complex housing a number of fascinating palaces. The main palaces are:
 
     
  Meherangarh Fort, Jodhpur    
 
Rao Jodha, the chief of Rathore clan, got the Mehrangarh fort of Jodhpur constructed in 1459. It is situated on 150 m high hill and can be reached from the city through a circular road. It is one of the largest and most magnificent forts in India. Mehrangarh fort of Jodhpur, Rajasthan has 7 gates, which need to be crossed before reaching the main complex.
 
     
  Nahargarh Fort, Jaipur  
Jai Singh got the Nahargarh Fort of Jaipur constructed in 1734. Later on, further extensions were made to it in 1868. Nahargarh literally means the abode of tigers. According to the wide spread legend, the fort is named after Nahar Singh, a prince whose spirit obstructed the construction of the fort. So, a tantrik was called and the spirit agreed to leave the place only if the fort was named after him. The Nahargarh fort sits atop a rugged ridge of the Aravalis.
     
  Lake Palace, Udaipur    
 
The Lake palace is located on the Jag Niwas Island and covers the whole of 1.5 hectare of the island in the middle of the Pichola Lake. Built by Maharana Jagat Singh in 1743 it was meant as a royal summer palace and now converted in to a five star palace hotel. Advertise Here It is a magical palace and its image in the middle of the lake is like a leaf straight out of a fairy tale book with an excellent taste of intricate craftsmanship and the ethnic themes using the textiles and handicrafts all over highlight the beauty that is simply beyond compare the lake around makes a pleasant murmur with its rippling waves and lapping that adds to the mesmerising moments.
